Obituary
Dr. S. C. Lucas, Dentist for 37 Years, Dies at 69
Dr. S. C. Lucas, 69, Wahpeton dentist for 37 years, died unexpectedly Saturday at his home here.
Rev. Everett C. Owens officiated at funeral services this afternoon (Tuesday) in Vertin’s Wahpeton Funeral Chapel. Masonic rites were conducted by the Wahpeton Blue Lodge.
Dr. Lucas was born in Ridgeland, Wis., Dec. 4, 1895, where he grew to manhood. He attended the University of Minnesota and later taught school at Bemidji, Minn., and Bel Plaine, Minn. He returned to the University, graduating from the school of dentistry in 1927.
That same year he started his practice here and married Gladys Lohr on March 23. He practiced here for 37 years before retiring in 1964.
He was a member of Foss Methodist Church, local and state dental associations and the Masonic Lodge.
Besides his wife, he leaves two daughters, Mrs. Arnold (Lila Jean) Steward, Gilby, N.D., and Mrs. Morris (Lucy) Sachar of Chicago Ill., and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
Organist was Mrs. F. D. Brown and Mr. and Mrs. Glen Cunningham were vocalists.
