Obituary
Arthur Lee dies at 58
Arthur Lee, 58, prominent Wahpeton banker and insuranceman for many years, died Tuesday at Dakota Hospital in Fargo. Funeral services will be at Bethel Lutheran Church at a time to be set.
Arthur Lee was born Jan. 22, 1917 at Colfax, N.D. to Lars and Helga (Bolstad) Lee. He grew up there and attended local schools.
He married Phyllis M. Hatlie Sept. 3, 1938. The couple lived at Colfax where he worked for a general store.
They moved to Wahpeton in 1942 where he began work for the Wahpeton National Bank. He served in the Army during World War II, returning to the bank until 1956 when he bought the J. Meyer Johnson Insurance Agency. He operated the business until about a year ago when he became ill and sold it.
He was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church where he held various offices, was active in a variety of community affairs, and held memberships in the Elks and Wahpeton Rotary Club.
Survivors are his wife, Phyllis; two sons, Duane of West Fargo and Levert of Denver, Colo.; a daughter, Mrs. Donald (Anise) Dahlquist of Moorhead; six grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Vernon (Thordis) Danielson of New Rockford, N.D.; and seven brothers, Melford of Moose Lake, Minn., Oswald of Spokane, Wash., Oscar of Wahpeton, Herbert of Lacey, Wash., Kenneth of Colfax, Willard of Miami, and Clayton of Abercrombie.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
