John Lenzmeier

Funeral services for John B. Lenzmeier, 80, of Wahpeton will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. John's Catholic Church in Wahpeton with Rev. George Mehok officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Memorial Garden of Christus in Wahpeton.

Mr. Lenzmeier died Friday at St. Francis Hospital in Breckenridge.

Visitation will be Monday afternoon and evening at Vertin's Wahpeton Funeral Home with a bible vigil at 8 p.m.

Vocalist at the services will be Arthur Azure and military rites will include the folding of the flag at the entrance of the church after committal.

Honorary casket bearers will be sons Harold, William, Dennis, John, Robert, Ralph, Terry and Douglas Lenzmeier.

Active casket bearers will be grandsons Steven, Craig, Brian, James, Charles, Dennis, Richard and Cory Lenzmeier and Michael Steen.

John Lenzmeier was born July 31, 1894 at Goodwin, S. D. to Frank and Mary (Kranz) Lenzmeier. He married Marie Ruhr June 16, 1919 at Kranzbury, S. D. The couple farmed until 1932 when they moved to Wahpeton where he was a truck driver.

He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and the American Legion.

Survivors include his wife, Marie; nine sons, Harold, William, Dennis, John, Robert, Ralph, Douglas and Terry Lenzmeier; six daughters, Mrs. Dennis (Leona) Medenwaldt, Mrs. Leslie (Rosemary) Bergman, Mrs. Alvin (Audrey) Andrews, Mrs. Howard (Juanite) Steen, Mrs. Roger (Muriel) Olson and Mrs. Ellyn Stevenson; 39 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Frank Lenzmeier; and three sisters, Mrs. Fred (Ada) Basgen, Mrs. Marcella Bulen and Mrs. William (Maize) St. Richerz.

Arrangements were with Vertin's Wahpeton Funeral Home.
