Obituary
Ray Letteer, 87, Wahpeton, died Friday, Dec. 12, 1986, at St. Francis Medical Center, Breckenridge. The funeral will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Vertin's Wahpeton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ernest Bartels officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Memorial Gardens, Wahpeton.
Visitation will be Sunday afternoon and evening and Monday morning until time of service at the funeral home chapel.
Letteer was born June 28, 1899 in rural Fairmount to Charles J. and Augusta (Schendel) Letteer. He moved as a child with his family to rural Wahpeton where he attended school. The family later moved into Wahpeton.
In 1919, he was employed by the Northwestern Sheet and Iron Works, Wahpeton and retired as shop foreman in 1964.
He married Verla Garrett Oct. 7, 1933 at Sisseton, S.D. and had lived in Wahpeton since his marriage.
Survivors include his wife, Verla, Wahpeton; one son, Richard Letteer, Bismarck; seven grandchildren and one great grandson.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Shirley Pankow in 1971, one granddaughter, Karen Pankow in 1977, three brothers and four sisters.
Casketbearers will be Ron Pedersen, Elroy Cimbura, Dale Smith, Russell Comstock, John Dauer and Warren Mohs.
