Manikowske Rites Sunday In Wahpeton
Funeral services for Ethel Purdon Manikowske, who died Monday at her home in Manhattan Beach, Calif., will be held Sunday at the Vertin Funeral Home in this city and interment made beside her husband, the late George Manikowski in Fairview Cemetery. Funeral services were held in the west Wednesday.
Ethel Purdon was born in April 1891 in Wahpeton, daughter of Lt. Col. and Mrs. Wm. R. Purdon. She attended local schools and the Science School then went west to study at the University of California. Returning here she became the bride of Geo. Manikowske in 1914.
They lived at Wyndmere until 1920, then moved to Minneapolis and later to Sioux City, Iowa. They moved to California in 1942.
To them were born a son, William, of Los Angeles and three daughters; Mrs. Kenneth A. Hunter, of Redondo Beach, Calif.; Mrs. Oliver K. Krienke, and Mrs. Ernest L. Johnson of Manhattan Beach. Mrs. Krienke is accompanying her mother’s s body to Wahpeton; they will arrive Saturday morning.
Mrs. Manikowske is survived by a brother, Arthur Purdon, of New York City. A recent issue of the Farmer-Globe carried an account of Mrs. Manikowske’s success in the real estate business in Manhattan Beach. She visited Wahpeton relatives two weeks ago after going through the clinic at Rochester.
