Obituary

Funeral Slated Saturday For Edward Marquardt, 74

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m., from Immanuel Lutheran church Wahpeton, for Edward Marquardt, 75, of Wahpeton, who died Wednesday at St. Francis hospital Breckenridge where he had been a patient four days following a stroke.

Rev. Henry Fry will be officiating clergyman. A family service will be held Friday evening at 9 o’clock at Vertin’s-Wahpeton chapel.

Mr. Marquardt was employed at the State School of Science for many years before retiring about 5 years ago.

He was born at Elizabeth, Minn. Oct 6, 1888, and came with his parents to Taylor township, Minnesota, near Fairmount. He was married to Minnie Buchholz Dec. 6, 1910, at Lidgerwood. They resided at Fairmount before moving to Wahpeton in 1936.

Surviving are two daughters Mrs. Magnus (Esther) Anderson, Jamestown, and Mrs. Mabel Holthusen, Wahpeton; two brothers, Paul and William, both of Fairmount; one sister, Mrs. William (Minnie) Perske, Whittier, Calif., four grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and three brothers.

Mrs. William Enochson will be organist and Mrs. Arnold Pankow vocalist.

Pallbearers will be Oscar Dahlgren, Lawrence Nater, Carl Simonitch, Gordon Paape, Arthur W. Johnson, Clarence Freitag and Glenn Willis.

Interment will be at Fairview cemetery.
