Obituary
A. W. Marten
WAHPETON - Albert W. Marten, 79, of Wahpeton died at his home Thursday. The funeral will be at 11 Monday in Vertin's-Wahpeton Chapel with the Rev. Stanley Mueller officiating. Mrs. Donald Gripentrog will be the organist and Mrs. Donald Heitman will be the vocalist. Military rites will be conducted by the Wahpeton American Legion Post. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery.
Visitation will be Sunday afternoon and evening at Vertin's-Wahpeton East Chapel with a prayer service at 7:30 followed by a Masonic service conducted by the Wahpeton Masonic Lodge.
Casket bearers will be George Soltis, Earl Caulkins, Russell Olson, Willard Onchuck, Ray Moss and Junior Reihe.
Mr. Marten was born in Iowa Nov. 22, 1892, the son of Herman and Ocenia (DeVall) Marten and came to Foxhome in 1909. He served in World War I and married Irene Ferguson Dec. 26, 1917. He had been employed by the Great Northern Railway for 39 years. He was a member of the American Legion and Masonic Lodge.
He leaves his wife; two brothers and two sisters, Earl, Breckenridge, Minn.; George, Everdell, Minn.; Mrs. Orv (Edna) Lura, Detroit Lakes, Minn., and Mrs. Boyd (Margaret) Ackert, Rothsay, Minn.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters and one brother, Mrs. Alvina Lankow, Mrs. Jessie Lankow and Fred Marten.
