Obituary
Ludwig Matt
Funeral services for Ludwig Matt, 74, Wahpeton, will be Friday at 2:30 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church with Rev. Edward J. Rutter officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery.
Mr. Matt died Tuesday evening at St. Francis Hospital, Breckenridge.
Visitation will be Thursday afternoon and evening and Friday until 11 a.m. at Vertin's Wahpeton Funeral Home west chapel. There will be a prayer service at 8:30 p.m. Thursday. There will also be visitation one hour prior to services at the church.
Organist will be Mrs. William Enochson and special music will be provided by the Immanuel Ladies' Choir.
Honorary casket bearers will be Stanley Westby, William Sturma, Roy Baler, Dr. George Larson, Charles Green, Peter Onchuck and Earl Hauschild.
Active casket bearers will be Terry Neppl, Gerald Johnson, Fred Eisner, Jr., Del Wayne Hoefs, Rick Stubson and Charles Gira.
Ludwig Matt was born Apr. 20, 1900 in Center Township, rural Wahpeton, to August and Elizabeth (Mohs) Matt. He grew up there and attended local schools, later attending Hanson Trade School at Fargo.
He married Ella Gast Oct. 15, 1924 at Wahpeton. He was a dairy farmer in Center Township and also operated dairy farms in Center Township and Breckenridge Township. He moved to Breckenridge in 1943. He retired in 1967 and moved to Wahpeton.
He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, the Men's Club of the church and served as a deacon.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Alfred (Dorothy) Johnson of Breckenridge and Mrs. Willard (Mavis) Onchuck of Wahpeton; ten grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and a brother, Robert, of Wahpeton.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Henry.
Arrangements are with Vertin's Wahpeton Funeral Home.
