Frank Mayer, Long In Area, Dies Tuesday
Frank Mayer, 72, long time resident of this area an employee of the Great Northern railroad for 30 years, died Tuesday at the St. Francis hospital in Breckenridge where he had been a patient since April 6. He had been in ill health for the past five years.
Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 9:30 from St. Adalbert’s Catholic church with Father E. J. Echart officiating. The Vertin Funeral Home of this city is in charge of arrangements.
He was born Oct.5, 1879 at Calvery, Wisc., the son of Michael and Emma Mayer. When a boy of three years old he came with his parents to Richland county. They lived on a farm west of Wahpeton for a short time before moving to Wahpeton. He attended local school and grew to manhood in this vicinity.
He began working for the Great Northern railroad in 1917 being employed with the bridge and building crew. He retired five years ago.
He married Elizabeth Thimjon and later Anna Holm. Both are deceased. Surviving are a daughter and a son. They are Mrs. E (Loretta) Boether of Milwaukee, Wisc. and Harold of Wahpeton. A daughter, Frances, died in March, 1926.
He also leave three grandchildren, a great grandson, three sisters, Mrs. Mary ______of Kent, Mrs. Rose Orgon of Minneapolis and Mrs. Orville ________ of St. Paul, and a brother Nick of Wahpeton.
