Rites Tuesday For Geo. McCullough

Well Known Man Dies Saturday

Funeral services for George McCullough, aged 72, who died Saturday at St. Francis hospital will be held Tuesday at two o’clock from the Congregational church. Honorary pallbearers will be veterans of the Spanish-American War.

Geo. McCullough was born in Janesville, Wis., Sept. 28, 1874. When he was two years old his parents homesteaded near Campbell. When he grew to manhood, Mr. McCullough moved to Fergus Falls to be employed in a meat market.
Later he became chief of police for the city of Fergus Falls

He was married in Fergus Falls to Miss Thekla Olson and after serving a year in the Spanish-American war he brought his family to Richland county and went into the meat business in Dwight and Wahpeton.

In 1920 he accepted a position with the Northern Pacific Railway company which he held until 1925 when he entered the employ of the Otter Tail Power Company. He took a leave of absence Oct 1 because of his health and on Dec. 1 was retired by the company.

He leaves his wife and eight children, all married. They are Mrs. W. V. (Marion) Dietz. Vernon, of Willits, Calif. Franklin and George of this city, Kenneth of Fargo, James of Breckenridge, Ms. Merle (Mildred) Hoppert and Mrs. Joe (Delores) sizer of this city. There are 13 grandchildren.

All of the children were with him Saturday with the exception of Vernon who spent a month at home earlier in the year.

Mr. McCullough was a member of the Congregational church of the Modern Woodman Lodge and was a veteran of the Spanish-American war having gone to the Philippine Islands, with Co. B of Fergus Falls

The body will lie in state at the Schmitt & Olson chapel until 11 o’clock Tuesday morning when it will be taken to the church.
