Obituary
Franklin B. McKean-1911
Some weeks ago it became necessary for Frank McKean to give up his work at the bank and go to the hospital that he might recuperate his health. He was at the hospital for some time, but he did not gain as his friends had wished, and he was taken to the home of his sister, Mrs. Lauder. There it was planned to take him to some health resort, but before the necessary arrangements could be made he was taken with paralysis of the bowels. It then became known that the end was near. All that was mortal passed into the great beyond last Saturday morning shortly before ten o’clock.
Mr. and Mrs. McKean came to Breckenridge in 1879 and two years later to Wahpeton, and Frank was born that same year. His whole life has been spent in Wahpeton. He was thirty years old, a member of the Sunday school for 27 years and of the church 20 years. The last nine years he has held a responsible position in the Peoples State Bank.
The father and mother were in Idaho with their daughter, Mrs. E. S. Shaw, when Frank was taken sick, and as there was no thought of any immediate seriousness they were not summoned, until the end they reached home Tuesday night.
The funeral was conducted by Rev. Gallagher in the Congregational church Wednesday afternoon and burial in Fairview cemetery. He was buried with Military honors by Co. I escorting the body to the church and grave.
Besides his parents four sisters and two brothers are left, all of them were at the funeral except Mrs. Shaw.
