Mrs. Arthur McKean Is Buried Tuesday
Services for Former Wahpeton Woman Conducted From Vertin Chapel
Funeral services were held from the Vertin Chapel at 2:30 Tuesday afternoon for Mrs. Arthur McKean, former Wahpeton resident, who passed away last Saturday at the home of her son, Dr. Robert McKean at Worland, Wyo.
Bertha E. Sisson was born June 7, 1880, at Allegan, Mich., where she grew to young womanhood. She attended the Wahpeton schools for one year, staying at the home of her sister, Mrs. Schuler, and graduated from the Allegan high school. In October, 1900, she was united in marriage to Arthur McKean at Staples, Minn., and shortly afterward, they came to Wahpeton to make their home when Mr. McKean was engaged in business for several years.
While in Wahpeton, Mrs. McKean was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and of the Woman’s Literary club, and was active in the local Congregational church. He two sons, Kenneth and Robert, were born in Wahpeton.
In 1911 the family moved to Isabel, S.D., where Mr. McKean operated a mercantile business. Here, too, she was active in women’s club work, and was superintendent of the Congregational Sunday school for a number of years. At the time of her death, she was a member of the Christian Science church.
The Christian Science funeral service was read by Mrs. A. Torguson. Music at the service was by Mrs. H. B. Paul, soloist, accompanied by Mrs. Fred Brown. Pallbearers wee: A. Torguson, R. L. Hawes, W. A. Farnsworth, Max Lauder, R. T. Barber and George Reeder.
She leaves to mourn her death, her husband and sons, Kenneth of Evanston, Ill., and Robert, of Worland, Wyo., a sister, Mrs. Nellie Hicks, of Allegan, Mich., and a brother, William Sisson, of Detroit, Mich.
Burial was made at the local cemetery.
