Barney Pioneer Dies Saturday
McLaughlin Services To Be Tuesday
Phinies Peter McLaughlin, Barney, died at St. Francis hospital Friday. Funeral services will be conducted at the Vertin chapel here at 2 p.m. Tuesday with Rev. P.A. Gisvold officiating and burial will be in Fairview cemetery.
Born Nov. 24, 1867, in Maine, he came to Richland county in 1898 to engage in farming near Barney. He was married April 1, 1907, to Viola VaCourn. Mrs. McLaughlin died April 1, 1927.
He is survived by six daughters; Mrs. Herman Muehler (Alma) Fairmount; Mrs. George Harvego (Opal) Rothsay, Minn; Mrs. Alfred Berg (Edith) Colfax; Mrs. Lyle Coburn (Ethlin) Kalamazoo, Mich., Mrs. Clifford Johnson (Lillian) Campbell Minn; and Mrs. Donald Price (Flossie) Rosholt, S. D.
Mr. McLaughlin had been a patient at St Mary’s hospital in Wahpeton for several days and had been taken to St. Francis hospital for surgery when he passed away.
