Obituary
Gustav Meyer Passes Sunday; Rites Thursday
Gustav L. Meyer, 85, resident of Richland County 56 years, died Sunday in St Francis hospital where he had been a patient for five days. He had been in failing health the last two years. He was born Feb. 23, 1873, in the province of Poland in Germany where he attended schools and grew to manhood. He married Augusta Bucholtz there and he came with his wife and six children to the United States to Lidgerwood in 1902. They farmed in that community for about 40 years.
Mrs. Meyer died in 1941 and sine then he had made his home with a son Albert, in Fairmount.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the First English Lutheran church of Fairmount of which he was a member. Rev. Alton Temme of Tyler will officiate and interment will be made in Fairview Cemetery at Wahpeton. Vertin Funeral Home is in charge.
Friends may call Wednesday afternoon and evening and until 9 a.m. Thursday. The body will not be viewed after the service.
Pallbearers will be Harry Scheidegger, Allen Engebretson, Donald Miller, Oran Budke, Rex Branson and Herman Laske.
Surviving are: five daughters, Mrs. Paul (Tillie) Marquardt, and Mrs. William (Hilda) Marquardt, both of Hankinson, Mrs. Oscar (Emma) Stai of Wyndmere, Mrs. Arthur (Lydia) Wolter and Mrs. Arnold (Margaret) Wolter, both of Wahpeton; seven sons, Reinhold, August and Paul, all of Fargo, Fred, of Breckenridge, William of Anaconda, Mont., Alfred of Wyndmere and Albert of Fairmount; 40 grandchildren and 44 great-grandchildren.
