Christ Mikkelson of Breckenridge Dies After Illness
Funeral Services For Brother Of Karl L. Mikkelson To Be Conducted Tuesday
Funeral services for Christian Mikkelson, pioneer Breckenridge resident and brother of Karl L. Mikkelson, Wahpeton will be conducted Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock from Bethel Lutheran church in Wahpton and burial will be in Fairview cemetery here. Mr. Mikkelson was custodian and pallbearers at the funeral will be Wilkin county officials.
Christ Mikkelson came to Richland county 40 years ago, receiving money foam his brother, Karl, who was already here. Christ was born at Kongsburg, Norway, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Olas Mikkelson, March 2, 1872. He married the former Marie Evjan of Dwight, November 2, 1901, and to this union were born six children; Mrs. Francis Beach of Breckenridge, Mrs. Oscar Schelstad of Wahpeton, Orton of Alexandria, Minn., and Robert, Clarence and Richard of Wahpeton, who with their mother, survive.
When Christ Mikkelson first came to this country, he was employed on the H.C. N. Myhra farm near Dwight for a few years. Later he moved to Breckenridge where he was employed by the Great Northern railway. He has been custodian of the Wilkin county court house for a great many years. He resided at 410 south sixth street in Breckenridge. He was taken ill last Monday and passed away at his home on Sunday morning.
He is survived besides his brother, Karl L., of Wahpeton, by nine brothers and sisters in Norway. They are John, Rasmus, Anton, Harold, Richard, Marie, Anna, Riko and Elevnie.
Funeral services will be conducted from the Joseph Vertin mortuary in Breckenridge and from Bethel Lutheran church here with Rev. P. A. Gisvold officiating. Pallbearers will be Dave Finlayson, Breckenridge; Edward Nelson, Lawndale; Jerome Haire, Kent; S. A. Seffans, Breckenridge; Emil Amundson, Rothsay and Bert Huse of Campbell.
