Obituary

A. H. Miller, Once City Auditor, Dies Suddenly Monday

Was in Apparent Good Health on New Years Eve But Collapsed and Died Following Morning

Funeral Arrangements Not Yet Completed

Survived by Wife, Two Daughters, Granddaughter, Brother and Two Sisters Arthur H. Miller, for ten years city auditor of Wahpeton, but more recently connected with Hoppert’s Plumbing and Heating company here died suddenly at five Monday morning. He was in apparently good health up to the time of his fatal illness and had wished his family Happy New Year and listened to the whistles and bells announcing the New Year. He dropped dead from the effects of a heart attack.

Born December 25, 1885, at Wintrop, Minn, he came to Wahpeton about 30 years ago as agent for the Milwaukee railroad. During the World War he served as clerk of the draft board here. He was married at Wahpeton, September 15, 1915, to Catherine Rischard. They have made their home in Wahpeton ever since.

New Year’s eve, Mr. Miller was up and about the house greeting members of his family. Mrs. Miller was in Minneapolis visiting but his two daughters Mrs. Jerry Rossum and Carol as well as his little granddaughter Carol Janice and his son-in-law, Mr. Rossum were present. He was thought to be in the best of health and there was no sign of illness. Suddenly, at about five in the morning he collapsed and died while in the bathroom.

Besides his wife, daughter and granddaughter, he is survived by a brother, Grant, of Hope, N.D. and two sisters, Mrs. Meta Lovely and Anna E. Lovely of Zella, Wash. Pending word from relatives, funeral arrangements have not been completed.
