James Morley Is Buried Here On Monday Afternoon
Well Known Wahpeton Pioneer Passes Away After Long Illness
James Morley, well known Wahpeton pioneer, passed away on Saturday at the Wahpeton hospital after a long illness. Death was due to the effects of old age. Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon from Trinity Episcopal church with Rev. Walton officiating and Masonic services were held at the grave at Fairview cemetery.
Morley was well known all over Richland county and Wahpeton and Breckenridge. One of his favorite pastimes was visiting members of the Masonic lodge in neighboring cities and taking part in various card tournaments.
James Morley was born in Liverpool, Eng., Aug. 11, 1856, and came to Wahpeton from there with his wife 48 years ago. He made his home here and has accumulated considerable property. He joined the Wahpeton Masonic lodge in 1905 and had been an active member ever since.
Mrs. Morley passed away March 11, 1934 and is buried in Fairview cemetery. Mr. Morley will be laid to rest beside her. Surviving is one daughter and a son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. George Anderson, of Breckenridge. During his lifetime in Wahpeton, James Morley was first employed as engineer in the Opera House, taking care of the entire building as well as the stage and other operations of the building. Later he was employed by the Globe-Gazette Printing company and as an engineer in the city water works. He had been retired during the last few years.
Pallbearers at the funeral will be E. H. Myhra, C. J. Kachelhoffer, Linn Harris, C. O. Gauslow, A. J. Hausauer and R. R. Hausken.
