Last rites for Elmer H. Myhra, 70, former prominent Wahpeton resident who died Monday at Jamestown, were held this Thursday afternoon from the Bethel Lutheran church with Rev. P. A. Gisvold officiating. Mr. Myhra was one of the very first men born in Dakota territory.

Interment was made in the Fairview cemetery where the Masonic service was given by members of the lodge to which he had been given a life membership a few years ago.

Mr. Myhra was born December 9 1873 on the homestead of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. C. N. Myhra, pioneer farmer, who came in the territorial days, to what is now Richland county, locating near Abercrombie, where they took claims. He was married to May Dahl in Iowa Falls, September 7, 1898, and returned with his bride to Wahpeton. To them were born Mrs. C. H. Diederich of Chaska, Minnesota, and Harold, living in Minot.

He was for many years treasurer of Masonic bodies in Wahpeton, a member of the Eastern Star as well Royal Arch Degree and Knights Templars, each of the organizations having granted him a life membership in 1936.

Here for the funeral are his daughter, Mrs. Diederich, who arrived Wednesday morning from her home in Chaska and his son Harold, of Minot, who, as a government engineer flew by bomber from Edmonton, Alberta where he is an engineer on a government project to Fargo and arrived here Wednesday evening.
