FUNERAL SERVICE FOR MRS. MYHRA HELD WEDNESDAY M. E. CHURCH SCARCELY LARGE ENOUGH TO ADMIT SORROWING FRIENDS ANGINA PECTORIS OF LONG DURATION CAUSE OF DEATH Was Born in Sweden; Came to America as a Babe of One Year;

Lived Here Thirty-two Years

Funeral services for Mrs. E. H. Myhra, who passed away at her home in Wahpeton Monday morning, were conducted at the Methodist church Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock. The Seating capacity of the church was entirely inadequate to accommodate the great number of friends who came to pay their last respects to the departed. Only standing room in the upper row of the balcony of the church was available. Services were conducted by Rev. W. L Bennett, pastor of the church , and by the Eastern Start order, with Mrs. C. J. Kachelhoffer acting as Worthy Matron and Jesse Smith as Worthy Patron. The five Star Points were taken by Mrs. Jesse Smith, Mrs. G. C. Bugbee, Mrs. Chas. Fee, Miss Ella Stern and Mrs. John M. Ness. The floral gifts, tastefully arranged, were beautiful and profuse.

A quartette consisting of Mrs. A. Torguson, Mrs. J. Pfeifer, Hugo Johnson and Alvin Meyer sang “Nearer, My God, to Thee” at the opening of the service. Mrs. Torguson and Mrs. Pfeifer sang the beautiful number, “Whispering Hope”, and the final musical number was given by the quartette, “Abide With Me.” Rev. Bennett gave a brief but remarkably effective address, which was a source of great comfort to the bereaved relatives and sorrowing friends. Messrs. Chas. E. Wolfe, R. J. Hughes, J. Water Green, R. W. Gowland, F. F. Callan and G. C. Bugbee, intimate friends and members of the Masonic bodies; acted as pall bearers. Interment at Fairview cemetery.

Mrs. Myhra was born in Sweden, on July 23, 1871. At the age of one year, she was brought by her parents to America, where they established the family home at Iowa Falls, Iowa. Here she grew to womanhood, and in 1892 came to Wahpeton. In 1898 she was married to Elmer H. Myra of Wahpeton, and has resided continuously in this city since her marriage. Two children were born to them, who, with the husband, five brothers and four sisters, survive her. The parents passed away at the old home in Iowa within recent years.

The brothers and sisters are : Charles Dahl, Estherville, Ia.; James Dahl, Olwein, Ia.; Olof E. Dahl, Britt, Ia.; Frank Dahl, Iowa Falls, Ia.; Mrs. Emma Wood, of Iowa Falls; Mrs. Josie Campbell, Minneapolis; Mrs. Walter Fulton, Des Moines; and Mrs. Chas. Johnson, Iowa. Charles, James, Mrs. Wood and Mrs. Campbell attended the funeral services. Among those from out of town who attended the funeral services Wednesday were Mr. and Mrs. Ed Wilson and son Percy, Mr. and Mrs. F. A. Magnuson, and Miss Agnes Myhra, of Moorhead; H. C. N. Myhra and Mr. and Mrs. George Myhra; A. W. Eastman of Milnor; Mr. And Mrs. J. F. Shea of Fargo; F. W. Mashek of Lidgerwood; Gunder Olson of Fargo.

Mrs. Myhra’s death was caused by angina pectoris (hardening of the arteries). The disease first made its appearance some sixteen years ago, and since that time has been steadily progressing in spite of all available medical skill. Of recent years she had suffered a great deal at times, having several sinking spells at each of which her recovery was doubtful. In spite of her affliction she maintained a cheerful mien on all occasions, and was highly respected and greatly admired, for her many womanly qualities and for her fortitude in her affliction. She was a member of the Eastern Star order for many years, and was also a member of the Yeoman Lodge.
