Obituary
R. W. Myhra, 37, Former City Man, Dies Tuesday
Richard W. Myhra, 37, East Grand Forks, Minn., former resident of Wahpeton, died Tuesday in a Grand Forks hospital following a long illness.
He was the son of the late Harold and Anita Myhra of Devils Lake. His grandfathers were Elmer Myhra, Former Wahpeton postmaster, and A. B. Hanson, who was owner of the Wonder Store here, Mrs. C H. Diederich, the former, Lucille Myhra is an aunt.
Mr. Myhra, a third generation native of North Dakota, was born in Bismarck Jan. 15, 1926.
Mr. Myhra moved with his parents in 1935 to Minot where he attended school and graduated from Minot High School. He entered the University of North Dakota in 1944 and later graduated with a Ph. B. degree.
For a time Mr. Myhra was employed by the J.C. Penney Co., at Crookston and later was chief clerk of the American Crystal Sugar Co. of East Grand Forks until his illness forced his retirement.
He was married in 1955 at Grand Forks to the former Bess Meer who survives along with his mother, Mrs. Anita Myhra of Devils Lake; his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Bessie Hanson of Devils Lake; a sister, Mrs. Charon (Marci) Johnson of Minot; three stepchildren. Ensign Kenneth L. Meyer, stationed with the Navy in Hawaii, Gerald A. Meyer of East Grand Forks, and Mrs. Robert (Carlotta) Molloy of Minneapolis, and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard H. Myhra, in 1957.
Mr. Myhra was a member of the Mendenhall Presbyterian church of East Grand Forks, Sigma Chi fraternity, Crookston Elks Lodge Kem Temple of the Shrine, Crookston Lodge No 141 A. F. and A. M. Pearson Chapter No. 41 Royal Arch Masons and the Constantine Commandery No 20
Funeral services were held Friday at the Mendenhall Presbyterian Church in East Grand Forks with Rev Richard Thompson officiating. Burail was at Fairview cemetery at Wahpeton. The Masonic Lodge of Wahpeton conducted graveside services.
