Obituary
Lyle Manning Rites Saturday
Lyle C. (Pat) Manning, 59, of rural Wahpeton died of an apparent heart attack Wednesday. Funeral services were held Saturday in the United Church of Christ with the Rev. William Dreyer Jr. officiating. Miss Donna Forkner was the organist. Interment was in Fairview Memorial Gardens. Vertin's-Wahpeton Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Casket bearers were Garfield Youngquist, Henry Dichraff, Elroy Langenwalter, George Pelzi, Gerald Pankow and Lowell Hooge.
Mr. Manning was born Jan. 8, 1911, at Fairmount, the son of Henry and Anella (Polka) Manning. The family lived in Wyndmere and Battle Lake before moving to Wahpeton where he attended high school and the North Dakota State School of Science. He married Helen Sing on Oct. 16, 1934, at Fergus Falls. He worked in a painting and decorating business until 1942 when he was employed by the Burlington Northern Railway as a switchman. He was a member of the United Church of Christ and Great Northern Veterans' Association.
He is survived by his wife; four sons, Patrick of Doran, Minn., Gary and Roger, both of Wahpeton, and Rawly of New Hope, Minn.; seven grandchildren; one brother and two sisters, William J. Manning of Twisp, Wash., Mrs. Waldemar (Neva) Becker of San Diego, Calif., and Mrs. Herman (Mildred) Klingbell of Seattle, Wash.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.
