Obituary
Vernon Marohl
Vernon Marohl, 52, Breckenridge, died Tuesday, March 24, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Fargo. The funeral will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Wahpeton, with Rev. Ernest Bartels officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Memorial Gardens.
Visitation is Wednesday afternoon and evening with a prayer service at 8 p.m. at Joseph Vertin and Sons, Breckenridge. There will also be visitation at the church for the hour prior to services.
He was born Oct. 14, 1928 to Emil and Lily (Heinke) Marohl at Hankinson where he grew up and attended local school. After graduating from high school in 1946 he entered the Army and served in Japan. He was discharged in 1948 and returned to Hankinson working with his father as a carpenter. He married Audrey Muehler March 18, 1950 at Hankinson. In 1958 the couple moved to Wahpeton. He was employed by Comstock Construction, Wahpeton for 23 years.
He married Mary Gunderson, Nov. 7, 1970 and the couple resided in Breckenridge since.
He was a member of the Wahpeton American Legion Post #20.
Survivors include his wife, two sons and a daughter, Dave, Wahpeton; Douglas, Fergus Falls; Mrs. Steve (Vickie) Klemm, Breckenridge; two stepsons and one stepdaughter, Randy Gunderson, Fargo; David Gunderson, Breckenridge; Mrs. George (Cheryl Gunderson) DeVore, Tillamook, Ore.; four grandchildren; a step-grandson, his mother, Mrs. Lily Marohl, Hankinson, three brothers and a sister, Elroy, Hankinson, Dale, Seattle, Wash,; Rudy, Red Wing, Minn.; and Mrs. Richard (Bernadine) Gulan, Hankinson.
He was preceded in death by his father.
