Obituary
Jacob Mashek, Longtime City Resident, Dies at 80
Jacob Mashek, 80, longtime Wahpeton resident, died Wednesday afternoon at the St Francis Home in Breckenridge where ehe resided the past six years.
Funeral services will be at 2 Friday at Vertin’s Wahpeton Chapel, Rev. Harold S. Jones officiating. Visitation will be today (Thursday) and until the time of service on Friday at Vertin’s Wahpeton.
Mr. Mashek was born March 6, 1887 at Brule County, S.D. and was raised and grew to manhood there. He came to the Wyndmere area in1911 and farmed near there. He entered the Army during World War I, servicing overseas. After the service, he returned to Wyndmere and started a real estate business in Wyndmere and Wahpeton.
He was married to Jessie Doleshy, Dec. 1935 and they lived in Wahpeton since. He was a member of the Hafner-Miller-Ross American Legion Post No. 2 in Wahpeton.
Military rites will be conducted by the Hafner-Miller-Ross American Legion Post No. 2 of Wahpeton.
Surviving are his wife; one brother, L. J. Mashek of Wyndmere and one sister, Mrs. John (Stella) Novotny of St. Paul.
Preceding him in death were three brothers and one sister.
Organist will be Mrs. F. D. Brown with C. B. Cummings as vocalist. Interment will be in Christus Gardens, Fairview Cemetery.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Arnold Lum, Ben Tisdel, Arthur Hausken, H. G. Seaver, Hubert Lambretz, and Leo Gilles Serving as active pall bearers will be Lyle Mashek, James Mashek, Harold Mashek, Edward Mashek, Raymond Novotny and George Kuchera.
