Obituary
Wm. McClintock Funeral Services Held Thursday
William H. McClintock 67 manager of Thompson Yards in Wahpeton before his retirement two years ago, died unexpectedly at his home here following a heart attack Monday afternoon.
Funeral services were held Thursday morning in Trinity Episcopal church here with Rev. Harold Jones officiating. Interment was in Fairview Memorial Cemetery with the Wahpeton Legion Post in charge of graveside military rites. Schmitt-Poulton Funeral Home handled funeral arrangements.
Pallbearers were M.B. Zimmerman, Frank Pearson, Geo. Hunkins, John Thompson, John Jacobchick and Earl Bute.
Mr. McClintock, a community leader here for many years suffered the heart attack in the back yard of his home. He was dead before the ambulance arrived to take him to a hospital.
Born at Redwood Falls, June 11, 1890 he attended schools and grew to young manhood in that area. He later moved to Minneapolis with his mother where he was employed by a real estate and insurance firm.
He came to Wahpeton in 1917 to go to work at the Globe-Gazette Printing Co.
December 19, 1917, he entered military service at Wahpeton training at Fort Stevens, Ore., before going overseas August 15, 1918, as a member of Battery E. 69th Coast Artillery. He received his discharge from military service March 11, at Camp Dodge, Ia., and returned to Wahpeton where he resumed employment on the Globe-Gazette staff.
He was united in marriage to Mary Wilson of Fulton Mo., May 25, 1923 in Wahpeton.
In 1926 he began his career with Thompson Yards. He managed the local lumber yard until retiring in July 1956.
He is survived by his wife, Mary, and a daughter, Alice Elizabeth, who is taking nurses training at a Fargo hospital.
Mr. McClintock was a past commander of the American Legion Post here, past president of the Wahpeton Rotary Club, an active member of the Wahpeton Masonic Lodge and past Chef de Gare of 40 et 8.
