Obituary
Oneda M. Metcalf
Oneda M. Metcalf, 69, Daytona Beach, Fla., formerly of Barney, died Wednesday, July 15 at Daytona Breach. The funeral will be at 2 Monday at Vertin's-Wahpeton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ralph Cushing officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Memorial Gardens, Wahpeton.
Visitation is Sunday afternoon and evening and until the time of the service at the chapel. There will be a prayer service at 8 p.m. Sunday.
Casket bearers will be grandsons, Randy, Brian, Marston, Lee, Steven and Rich Metcalf.
She was born Nov. 25, 1911 at Ainsworth, Neb.; to Benjamin and Grace (Adams) Thompson. She grew up and attended school in the Ainsworth area. She married Forrest Metcalf Feb. 19, 1930 at Winner, S.D. They lived in the Ainsworth area until 1931 when she moved to Barney. She was a housekeeper for her uncle and his father for many years. She then moved to Daytona Beach, Fla., in 1975 with her uncle and has resided there since.
She was a member of the Antelope United Methodist Church, Barney, and the Royal Neighbors of American.
Survivors include two sons, Eugene, Barney; Gail, Wahpeton, three brothers, Kenneth Thompson, Parma, Idaho, Arol, Redmond, Ore., Leonard, Newberg, Ore.; four sisters, Mrs. Eula Hill, Sheridan, Wyo., Mrs. Lila Mortar, Newberg, Ore., Mrs. Iola, Searless, Hillsboro, Ore., Mrs. Richard (Salaene) Carrol, Morgaum, Ore., 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, a sister and her parents.
