Obituary
Alta Meyer
Mrs. Arthur A. (Alta) Meyer, 77, Wahpeton, died Tuesday at St. Francis Hospital, Breckenridge. Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Vertin's Wahpeton Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Norman Winkelman officiating.
Visitation will be Thursday afternoon and evening and Friday until the time of the service at the chapel.
Alta Purdy was born Feb. 25, 1902 at Kidder, S.D., the daughter of Denzil and Evada (Edison) Purdy. She was raised in that area and attended high school in Britton, S.D. She married Arthur A. Meyer, Mar. 17, 1920 at Veblen, S.D. They farmed in Marshall County near Britton, S.D., until 1937 when they moved to Wahpeton.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband; three daughters, Mrs. Paul (Marine) Hemple and Mrs. Vernon (Laurel) Pavek, both of Fargo, and Mrs. Floyde (Gracine) Swenson, Wahpeton; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild; four sisters, Mabel Purdy, Wahpeton, Mrs. Alvin (Lucy) Meyer, Britton, S.D., Mrs. Elsie Methus, Northwood, Iowa, and Mrs. Lawrence (Hazel) Hanson, Eugene, Ore.; and a brother, Roy Purdy, Interlochen, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and two sisters.
