Arthur Miller Dies Tuesday

Arthur A. Miller, 77, a longtime Wahpeton barber, died Tuesday, April 22n 1986, at Mercy Hospital, Valley City, N.D.

The funeral service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Wahpeton United Methodist Church, with Rev. Norman Winkelman officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Memorial Gardens, Wahpeton.

Visitation will be Friday afternoon and evening at Vertin's Wahpeton Funeral Home. There will also be visitation at the church prior to the service on Saturday.

He was born April 25, 1908, at rural Hankinson, N.D., to Paul and Annie (Bladow) Miller. When he was 2 years of age he was adopted by his grandparents, August and Ernestine Bladow, Hankinson. He was raised and attended rural schools there. He was united in marriage to Florence Sylvia Coppin July 10, 1929, at Hankinson. He graduated from Molar Barber College, Fargo, and the couple moved to Wahpeton in 1932, where he operated the Miller Barber Shop. He sold his shop and retired June 1, 1971. The couple continued to live in Wahpeton.

He had served on the Wahpeton City Council and Wahpeton Fire Department for many years. Mrs. Miller died October 3, 1985, at which time he moved to Valley City. He was an active member of the United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Church Men. He and his wife conducted prayer groups in their home for many years.

Survivors include one son,Lloyd C. Miller, Valley City; one daughter, Mrs. William (Phylane) Breuer, Wasilla, Alaska; a foster daughter, Debbie Johnson, Breckenridge; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two foster grand-children. He was also preceded in death by several step-brothers and sisters.
