Fritjof Mitskog

COLFAX - Fritjof (Fritz) Mitskog, 73, of Colfax died Tuesday in St. Luke's Hospital in Fargo. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church at Colfax with the Rev. Merton C. Christensen officiating. Mrs. John Hudson will be the organist. Interment will be in Fairview Memorial Gardens at Wahpeton.

Visitation will be Thursday afternoon and evening with a prayer service at 7:30 at Vertin's-Wahpeton Funeral Home and Friday at the church prior to services.

Honorary casket bearers will be Franklin Nelson, Howard Fox, John Fiske, Ray Kummer, Ole Score, Hans Syvertsen, Clarence Score and Ingram Stuborn.

Active casket bearers will be Harold, Irving and Treadwell Haugen, Theodore Odegaard, Gilman Braaten and Donald Isaacson.

Mr. Mitskog was born Dec. 6, 1899, at Hatton, N.D., the son of Trond and Lisabeth (Kaldor) Mitskog. As a child, he moved with his parents to Garborg Township near Wyndmere and attended local schools. He also attended the North Dakota State School of Science for two years. He was employed at the Concoran General Store at Colfax before his marriage to Agnes Marie Isaacson, July 28, 1928, at Pelican Rapids, Minn. The couple farmed in Garborg Township until 1941 when they moved into Colfax where he was employed by the ASCS. He was affiliated with Our Savior's Lutheran Church and served on the church council and served on various church boards at Grace Lutheran Church. He served as school clerk in Garborg Township and on the Colfax School Board and was presently village treasurer at Colfax.

He is survived by his wife; one son and one daughter, Dr. Curtis C. Mitskog of Wahpeton and Mrs. Gerlad (Lorraine) Stubson of Colfax; five grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Oscar (Hannah) Haugen of Wyndmere.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Lena Odegaard, Mrs. Selma Sire, Ole and Harold in infancy.
