Obituary
Howard R. Morris, Sr.
Howard R. Morris, Sr., 68, Wahpeton, died Wednesday at home. The funeral service will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Bethel Lutheran Church, the Rev. David W. Eggebraten officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be Friday afternoon and evening and Saturday until 11 a.m. at Vertin's Wahpeton Funeral Home and at the church for the hour prior to the service.
He was born Feb. 11, 1912 at Galesburg, Ill., the son of William and Florence (Voss) Morris. He was raised in Galesburg and married Alice Klinth in 1930. They lived in Galesburg until 1941 when they moved to Fargo. In 1942, he began working for the Great Northern Railroad. In 1954, they moved to Wahpeton where he worked as an engineer for Great Northern. His wife died Oct. 15, 1958. He married Alma Ness April 21, 1959 at Moorhead. They have lived in Wahpeton since. He retired in 1975.
He is survived by his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Dean (Mary) Atchison, Moorhead, and Mrs. Curtis (Susan) Lindlauf, Fargo; one son, Howard R. Morris, Jr., West Palm Beach, Fla.; nine grandchildren, one great-grandchild, one brother, Lester, Galesburg, Ill., and one sister, Mrs. John (Dorothy) Cills, Knoxville, Ill.
