Obituary

Dr. John N. Ness, for many years a highly respected resident of Wahpeton, passed away at the Oakland Park sanitarium, Thief River Falls, Minn., Thursday. Funeral services were held in Wahpe-ton from the Odd Fellows hall Monday afternoon: at 2:30, under the auspices of the local I. O. 0. F. After leaving Wahpton, Doctor Ness resided in Grygia, Minn.

For many years, Doctor Ness was a suffer from tuberculosis, which caused his death. In an effort to cure the dread malady, he lived for months at a time among the Indians of Northern Minesota. During this. time, he made a most remarkable collection of Indian relics.

While in Wahpeton, Doctor Ness made many close friends, who join the family in mourning his death. He was an optician in this community and at one time served as county coroner. He was an active member of the Odd Fellows lodge and was lodge musician for many years.

Dr. John Myrus Ness was born in Norway, Sept 26, 1869 and came to this country when a young man. He first settled in Wisconsin, moving to Wahpeton in later years. He is survived by a number of nephews and nieces as well as a sister-in-law, Mrs. Chris Ness. who lives in Wahpeton. Two nephews, John and Harold Ness, are residents of Wahpeton. He also has a number of nieces and nephews at other points.
