Mrs. Alice Nickel Dies Sunday

Funeral for Well Known Lady Wednesday

Funeral services will be conducted from the Nickel home in Wahpeton Wednesday afternoon at 1 o’clock and from the Immanuel church at 2 o’clock for Mrs. Alice Nickel who died Sunday afternoon at 2:35 at the St. Francis hospital, where she has been a patient for the past few weeks. Rev. R. J. Becker will officiate at the services. Interment will be in Fairview cemetery.

Alice Erdmann was born Feb. 3, 1870, at Goodhue, Minn., where she lived until 1877, when together with her parents, the former Casper Erdmanns, moved to Center township, where they made their home. On Oct. 9, 1890, she was married to G.A.R. Nickel at Farmington, N.D. where Mr. Nickel operated a blacksmith shop. Mr. Nickel passed away in 1932. Mrs. Nickel was a charter member of the American Legion Auxiliary here and was a past president, being one of the first presidents of the organization. She was also a past president of the Relief Corps of the G.A.R., and was active in that organization up until the past year.

Ms. Nickel is survived by three daughters and three sons, and seven grandchildren, and one brother. Her daughters are Mrs. A. T. (Hermina) Knutson Bismarck; Mrs. V. W (Laura) Phillip, Seattle, Wash.; Mrs. Victor (Helen) Anderson, Deer Creek, Minn. Her sons are Ernest R., Wahpeton, Herbert P., Fergus Falls and W. Gustav (Dick), Wahpeton and her brother Carl Erdmann, Ryder, N.D. Her daughter Mrs. C. H. (Alice) Cartrite, preceded her in death, 1929.
