Obituary
Dr. J.O. Ness dies Saturday
Dr. J.O. Ness, 60, a Wahpeton chiropractor, died Saturday at St. Francis Hospital in Breckenridge. The funeral will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Bethel Lutheran Church in Wahpeton, Rev. Marvin L. Hartmann officiating.
Jerome O. Ness was born Nov. 8, 1920 at Fergus Falls to Daniel and Annie (Otteson) Ness. He graduated from Fergus Falls Senior High in 1940. He served in the U.S. Navy during the invasion of Africa and later in the Pacific Theatre of Operations. He served on three ships that were sunk during the war effort.
He married Delores Bjorgo on June 24, 1950 in Slayton, Minn. In 1953 he graduated from Logan Chiropractic College located in St. Louis, Mo. He attended Concordia College in Moorhead in 1954, before moving to Wahpeton where he established his chiropractic practice.
He was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church and he was active in the Wahpeton Masonic bodies serving as Master of the Wahpeton Masonic Lodge, Worthy Patron of the Order of Eastern Star and as an advisor for the DeMolay chapter for several years. He was a member of the El Zagal Shrine, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, and the Elks and the Eagles Club.
He is survived by his wife, two sons, Jeffry of St. Louis, Mo., and Brian of Wahpeton; a brother, Prentice of Fergus Falls and three sisters, Mrs. Della Rudd of Moorhead, Mrs. Clyde (Judith) McLaughlin of Hesperia, Calif., and Mrs. J.H. (Lorraine) Baillie of Rocklin, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one son.
Visitation will be Tuesday afternoon and evening at Vertin's-Wahpeton East Chapel. There will be no prayer service. Burial will be at Fairview Memorial Gardens in Wahpeton.
