Obituary
John F. Nagel
John F. Nagel, 83, Barney, died Wednesday at St. Francis Hospital in Breckenridge. The funeral will be at 2 Saturday in Joseph Vertin and Sons Chapel, Breckenridge, with Rev. Ralph Cushing officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Memorial Gardens, Wahpeton.
There will be visitation all day Friday and until the time of service Saturday.
Nagel was born April 6, 1891, to John and Mina Thunagel Nagel in Sac County, Iowa. He moved to the Mooreton area with his parents in 1904 and married Minnie Fitzgerald July 25, 1914, at Laverne, Minn. The couple moved to the Barney area where they farmed until his retirement. He also served as postmaster in Barney for a time. He was a member of the Elks, the Modern Woodmen of America.
Survivors include his wife, a son and daughter, Robert, Wyndmere and Mrs. Arnold (Melba) Heitkamp, Barney; 12 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and four brothers, William, Portland, Ore., Edward, Anaheim, Calif., Henry, Lakewood, Calif., and Albert, Blackduck, Minn.
He was preceded by a daughter, Elizabeth; a granddaughter, Marilyn; two brothers and three sisters.
