Myrtle Neperud

Mrs. John (Myrtle) Neperud, 65, Wahpeton, died Friday at the Bismarck hospital. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Bethel Lutheran Church, Wahpeton, the Rev. Marvin L. Hartmann officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Memorial Gardens, Wahpeton. Visitation will be Monday afternoon and evening and Tuesday morning until 11 a.m. at Vertin's Wahpeton Funeral Home West Chapel, and at the church an hour prior to the service.

Myrtle Walters was born Dec. 6, 1913 at Sumner, Wash., the daughter of Edwin and Clara (Ostrem) Walters. She moved to Moorhead with her family and attended schools there. She graduated from a Fargo beautician school. She owned beauty shops in Devils Lake, Michigan, and Valley City, N.D., and in Florida. She married Marion Johnston in 1946. She moved to Wahpeton in 1948 where she purchased The Minnette Beauty Shop which she operated 20 years. She married Walter Huseth in 1951. He died in 1963. She married John Neperud in 1977, and he died in 1978. She has continued to live in Wahpeton.

She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church and the North Dakota National Cosmetology Association and had received several state and national awards. She was past district chairperson of the cancer drive and past president of the VFW Auxiliary. She was also a member of the Wahpeton Elkettes and the American Contract Bridge League.

She is survived by a son, Edwin Johnston, Hales Corners, Wis.; a daughter, Mrs. Vern (Arlene) Fluto, Bismarck; and three grandchildren.

Casket bearers will be Pete Harland, Dr. Lloyd Best, Harold Diederich, Norman Lund, Merle Hoppert and Leo Kjellerup. Honorary casket bearers will be Tom Manikowski and Cyrus Anderson.
