Obituary
Marion A. Nissen, 87, Wahpeton, died Thursday, Feb. 27 1986 at Wahpeton Health Care Center. The funeral will be Monday at 11 a.m. at United Methodist Church, Wahpeton, with the Rev. Norman E. Winkelman officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be Sunday afternoon and evening at Vertin’s Wahpeton Funeral Home and at the church one hour prior to the service Monday. There will be no prayer service.
Marion A. Muir was born Feb. 16 1899 in Center Township near Wahpeton, to Duncan and Mary (McKinnon) Muir. She graduated from Wahpeton High School and Valley City State College. She taught elementary school at Zeeland, Lidgerwood and Gackle, N.D. She married Erwin Nissen June 12 1928 at Mooreton. They lived at Gackle. Her husband died in 1940. In 1945 she moved to Wahpeton where she taught fifth grade for 20 years until retiring in 1965. She continued to live in Wahpeton.
She was a member of Wahpeton United Methodist Church, Order of Eastern Star, Rebekah Lodge, Retired Teachers Association, and was past president of the American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by one daughter, Arlys Nissen, Santa Monica, Calif.; one brother, Walter Muir, Wahpeton; and two nieces.
She was precede in death by her husband, two sisters and a brother.
