Eli Oliver Funeral Service To Be Held On Friday Afternoon Odd Fellows to be in Charge of Last Rites for Well Liked Wahpeton Resident

Funeral services for Eli B. Oliver, well liked Wahpeton resident who died Tuesday at Northwestern hospital, Minneapolis, will be held Friday afternoon at the Methodist church at 2:30, the Reverend M. R. Davis officiating and arrangements being in charge of the Odd Fellow lodge.

Death followed an operation for the relief of stomach trouble, Saturday, from which he had apparently recovered satisfactorily, and was due to heart trouble. Mr. Oliver had been in poor health for a month and left two weeks ago for Minneapolis where he was advised that an operation was necessary. He recovered from the operation but died from a complication of pneumonia and heart trouble following it.

Eli B. Oliver was born at Mifflin, Wis., February 9, 1865. When he was 21 years old his parents moved to Bowdel, S. D. There he was married to Mary Frances Bower in 1886. Mr. and Mrs. Oliver came to Wahpeton in 1897 and have made their home here since that time. For over 20 years Mr. Oliver was mail carrier on rural route 3 and knew and was the friend of every patron on his route. He had less than a year of service to complete before he would have been pensioned by the government. He was a member of the Methodist church and had been active in church work for many years. For the past 23 years he was a member of the Wahpeton Odd Fellow lodge, taking a prominent part in lodge activities. He was a member of the local encampment of the Muacovite branches and was a past noble grand of the lodge. Services for the family will be held at the home at 2:15, followed by services at the church at 2:30. Members of the Odd Fellow lodge will act as pallbearers; they are, Morrel Comstock, R. N. Canham, Charles Luick, W. E. Heathcote, George Van Arnam and Oscar Olson. His wife, two daughters, Mrs. H. B. Paul and Mrs. E. A. Severeid, two sons, G. Wesley Oliver and C. Frankin Oliver and 13 grandchildren survive him.

He had nine brother and two sisters of whom seven survive him. Three brothers and one sister, whose homes are in South Dakota, will attend the funeral services, according to word received yesterday. Mr. Oliver was a good citizen and neighbor and his passing brings sincere regret to his friends, who extend sympathy to the bereaved family.
