Obituary
Mrs. Oliver Dies Wednesday At Hospital
Mrs. Eli B. Oliver, resident of Wahpeton for 54 years and member of a well known local family, died Wednesday at 9 p.m. at St. Francis hospital in Breckenridge. She as 89 years old.
Mary Frances Bower was born in Glidden, Iowa, on Sept. 14, 1864, where she attended school and spent her childhood. She moved with her mother to a farm claim never Hoven, S.D., in 1881 where she later taught school.
She married Mr. Oliver there Aug. 18, 1886. They lived for short periods at Devils Lake, Sioux City, Iowa and Pipestone, Minn., before coming to Wahpeton in 1899 where she had lived since.
Mrs. Oliver was the mother of six children, three of whom are living. Preceding her in death were Pearl and Clyde, who died when young, and the late George Wesley Oliver of Wahpeton. Mr. Oliver died in 1927.
She leaves to mourn her passing two daughters. Mrs. H. H. Paul Wahpeton, and Mrs. E. A. Severeid of Alsen, a son, Charles F. of Wahpeton: a brother, Dr. C. F. Bower of Long Beach, Calif.; ten grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. A sister, Mrs. Ben Brown whose home was at Pierre, S.D., died while staying at the home of Mrs. Oliver here several years ago.
She was an active member of the Methodist Church and Rebakkah Lodge here for many years.
Funeral service has tentatively been set for Saturday, 2 p.m. from the Methodist church here but final arrangements have not been made pending word from relatives. Rev. B. B. Curtis will officiate and interment will be in the family lot in Fairview Cemetery. Vertin Funeral Home of Wahpeton is in charge of arrangements.
