Peter Christian Olsen was born in Tjotta, Norway March 3, 1874, the son of the late Iver and Helena Olsen. He came to the United States with his parents as a young boy and came to north Richland county where his parents farmed.

Later they moved to Dickey county and homesteaded near Oakes. Peter attended school at Oakes and also went away to school. He was a profound student and had a great desire for learning. He taught school at Oakes and worked at the office of the county auditor at Ellendale.

Mr. Olsen has been active in music and church work and directed choirs at Oakes, Staples and Wahpeton. He also organized and directed small classical orchestras. After his retirement in 1936 he spent several years in Florida and Illinois. In February 1947 he suffered a cerebral hemorrhage and has since been an invalid.
