Wahpeton Man Died Early Tuesday at Local Hospital

Funeral Services for Carl Johan Olson, better known as Charles Olson, who died early Tuesday at St. Mary hospital, will be held Friday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock from Schmitt & Olson Chapel with Rev. R. B. Hartman officiating.

Carl Johan, eldest of the six children of Carl and Charlotte Olson, was born March 20th, 1868 in Sonsvaal, Sweden. He was baptized and confirmed with the name “Carl” but in this vicinity was known as “Charles.” He came to the United States in 1888. He lived and worked in several communities in Michigan and Minnesota and North Dakota and has made his home in Wahpeton since 1915. He was an interior decorator by trade.

On August 31, 1909, he was married to Miss Edith Cecelia Jenne, of Hope, N.D. To them seven children were born: Lottie (Mrs. Clyde Matheson); recently of Wahpeton but now living in Canby, Minnesota; Agnes (Mrs. Einer Oscarson) of Wheaton, Minnesota; Paul now in the Army and stationed in the Philippines; Clara (of St. Paul, Minnesota); Mildred (Mrs. Richard E. Drumright, of Riverside, California; Carl now in the Army and stationed in France, if he is not on his way home; and Mary of Wahpeton.

The closer relatives surviving him are his wife, seven children, four grandchildren and it is thought three brothers.
