Obituary

Ed. Olson of Mooreton Dies

Funeral Services Tuesday Afternoon

Funeral services for Edward Olson, aged 59, of Mooreton, who was stricken with a heart attack and died at his home Saturday afternoon, will be held Tuesday afternoon from the Mooreton Lutheran church. The funeral is set for two o’clock, with Rev. Knutsen officiating, and interment will be in Fairview cemetery here. Mr. Olson was taken ill Saturday afternoon while working in his barbershop in Mooreton and went to his home to rest awhile. There he suffered a heart attack and died before medical aid could be summoned, passing away at five o’clock.

He was the son of Olaus Olson, of this city, and the late Mrs. Olson, at their farm home in Dwight Township. He grew to manhood on the farm and served in the home guard during the Spanish American war, but not being called to active duty as was his brother, the late John P. Olson.

Later he graduated from the Minneapolis Barber College and made barbering his life work. He was married August 5, 1906 to Miss Annie Ferguson at the Moses Ferguson farm home north of Breckenridge. To them was born one daughter, Mrs. Berner Holman, of Doran.

He and his wife established their home in Dwight, then went to Montana where they homesteaded and proved a claim, returning four years later to Dwight. In 1918 they moved to Mooreton and Mr. Olson established a barbershop there which he has since continued to operate, with the exception of two years that he was in business in Minneapolis.

Surviving are his wife, his daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Berner Holman, and a granddaughter, Dallas Arleen Holman. His father, Olaus Olson, survives him as do the following sisters and brothers. Mrs. Emma Holmes, Miss Marian Olson, Morris Olson and Mrs. Pearl Bezenek, of this city, Barney Olson, of Mooreton, Fred Olson of Great Falls Mont, and Elmer Olson of Glacier Park.

Preceding him in death were his mother, the late Mrs. Olaus Olson, brothers, Elmer, Engelbrikt and John, and a sister Martha Johanna. The body is lying in state at the Schmitt and Olson funeral parlor.
