Obituary
Harold Osen, 81, Retired Local Businessman, Dies; Rites Friday
Harold Osen, 81, retired Wahpeton florist and greenhouse operator, died Monday evening at his home.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. from the First Baptist church, Breckenridge, Rev. B. H. Fadenerecht, officiating. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery.
Harold Osen was born at Forde Sondfjord, Norway, Aug 17, 1881 and came to the United States in 1900, coming to Minneapolis. Later he worked in Northern Minnesota and on a farm at Klispell, Mont.
He married Johanna Solheim June 3, 1912, in Moose Jaw, Sask. They moved to Ortonville where Mr. Osen learned the florist business with his brother, O. M. Osen.
In 1915 they moved to Wahpeton where he became associated with George L. Harris in the Wahpeton Floral Business, at the present Miller Drug location. Mr. Osen built the present Wahpeton Floral building.
Mrs. Osen died in 1941. He married Mathilda Johnson in 1945. She died in June, 1956. He continued to live in Wahpeton. He sold the greenhouse to Clyde Emery in 1955.
Mr. Osen was a past ember of the Odd Fellows lodge and was an active member of the First Baptist church, Breckenridge, serving for many years as Sunday School superintendent.
Surviving include one daughter Mrs. Edward Hepokoski, Minagha, Minn. and two grandchildren. Also surviving are one brother, Henry, a resident of the Wahpeton Nursing Home, another brother, Peter, Duluth, Minn., two brothers in Norway, and three sisters, Mrs. Jalmer (Anna) Johnson and Mrs. Gust (Lena) Nelson, both Minneapolis and Mrs. Louise Luthji, British Columbia.
Organist will be Mrs. Melvin V. Young and vocalist will be Mrs. E. K. Christenson. Pallbearers will be Harvey Anderson, William Bragg, Evan Johnson, Leon Peterson, Wallace Aldrich and Wallace Ludwig.
Vertin’s-Wahpeton Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
