Martin Christopher Osman Buried Here on Mar. 2nd
Formerly Engaged As Carpenter and Contractor in Wahpeton Until 1918
Martin Christopher Osman was born in Kendall County, Illinois on September 10th, 1871. At the age of four years, he moved with his parents, Osman and Martha Osmanson to Ford County,Ill., He resided there until 1898, when he moved to Wright County, Iowa
He was united in marriage to Ella R. Gunderson, March 21st, 1900 at Belmond, Iowa. In 1901 they moved to Lehr, N.Dak., where they were engaged in farming for 12 years. Here he took an active part in community affairs and helped organize a church and Sunday school in a country school house near his farm.
In 1913 he moved to Wahpeton, N.Dak., where he was engaged in carpenter contracting. Later he became Superintendent of the buildings and grounds at the State School of Science and continued in the work until 1918. While here he joined the Congregational Church and served as Superintendent of the Sunday school for two years.
In the summer of 1918, he moved to Buffalo, N.Dak., where he was manager of the Cargill Elevator Co. for one year. Then he became manager of the Farmers Elevator Co. in which capacity he served nine years. He joined the Presbyterian Church and took an active part in the church and Sunday School. He also served as a member of the School Board of Education for one term.

…….He also leaves four brothers; Louis J. of Walnut Grove, Minn.; Eric and Henry of New Richland, Minn., and Cle R. of Waupaca, Wisc., and four sisters, Mrs. Inger Schwartz of Champain, Ill., Mrs. Harry Conrad of Omaha, Nebr., Mrs. Susuan Hanson of Belmond, Iowa, and Mattie B. Osman, of Omaha, Nebr. The service was held at the Lutheran church of Rogers, Thursday at 2 p.m. The remains were brought to Wahpeton, N.Dak., where they were interred at the Fairview cemetery on Friday, Mar 2nd, 1934.
Martin Osman To Be Buried Here Friday
Former Science School Employee Dies at Rogers, N.D., After Long Illness Martin Osman, former Wahpeton resident, will be laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery Friday afternoon, brief graveside services being held at two o’clock by his pastor from Rogers, N.D. Mr. Osman died Monday night at Rogers, following a long illness. Funeral services were held in Rogers, this (Thursday) afternoon and interment is to be made here beside his daughter.
The Osman family formerly made its home in Wahpeton when, Mr. Osman was employed at the Science School and many friends will regret to learn of their bereavement.
Surviving are his widow and five sons, two of whom, Leo and Marlowe, attended school in Wahpeton and three younger sons, Kermit, Wesley and Curtis. Mrs. Osman is a sister of Mrs. C. G. Luick of this city.
