Obituary
Wallace D. Olson Dies Tuesday
Wallace D. Olson, 56, of Wahpeton, died Tuesday at his home of an apparent heart attack.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wahpeton with the Rev. Edward J. Rutter officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Memorial Garden. Pallbearers will be members of the Miller-Hafner-Ross American Legion Post No. 20. Presentation of the flag will be by the American Legion.
Visitation will be Friday afternoon and evening at Vertin’s-Wahpeton Funeral Home with a prayer service at 8:30 p.m.
Mr. Olson was born June 28, 1913 at Dwight, the son of Andrew M. and Alice (Mathiesen) Olson. He attended Dwight schools and Wahpeton High School and worked for his father on the family farm. He married Lucylle Gast in 1936 at Wahpeton where they have since resided. He was employed by the Motor Oil Company and in 1942 began work at the Otter Tail Power Company Kidder Station as an operator. He served in the Army in World War II.
A few years ago, the couple moved to an acreage north of Wahpeton where he could pursue his hobby of raising homes and belonged to the Fort Ransom Cavalry Division Riding Club. He retired Dec. 1 of this year because of ill health.
He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church and Miller-Hafner-Ross American Legion Post No. 20.
He is survived by his wife; three daughters and one son, Mrs. Mark (Sheila) Tehle of St. Paul Frederick Olson and Mrs. Robert (Bonnie) Montgomery, both of Santa Barbara, Calif., Mrs. Alan (Gail) Lynch of Halliday, N.D.; his mother Mrs. Andrew (Alice) Olson, who resides at the Leach Home in Wahpeton; one brother, Kenneth Olson of San Diego, Calif., and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father in 1960.
