Gerald A. Olson, Jr.
MOORETON, N.D. - Services for Gerald A. Olson, Jr., 53, of Mooreton will be Friday at 2 p.m. at the Mooreton Lutheran Church with Rev. Kenneth Nyhusmoen officiating.
Mr. Olson died Tuesday at his farm home.
Visitation will be Thursday afternoon and evening and Friday until 11 a.m. at Vertin's Wahpeton Funeral Home with a prayer service at 8 p.m. Thursday. There will also be visitation one hour prior to services at the church.
Casket bearers will be Lyle Osmundson, Robert Krause, Donald and Duane Crogan, Earl Hanson, Lawrence Pikarski, Gary Holland and Kent Quamme.
Gerald A. Olson, Jr. was born Dec. 8, 1923 at Harmony, Minn. to Gerald and Gorda (Haugerud) Olson. He came with his parents to Moron in 1928. He attended local schools and graduated from Wahpeton High School.
He married Dora Stelton April 20, 1948 at Wahpeton. The couple farmed in Ibsen Township, rural Mooreton.
He was a member of the Mooreton Lutheran Church, the church council, served as a Sunday School teacher, was a member of 4-H for 25 years, a member of the Mooreton Rustlers, and served on the Richland County Farmers Union board.
Survivors are his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Charles (Peggy) Prochnow of Fairmount, Mrs. Francis (Carol) Roller of Bismarck, and Barbara Olson at home; two sons, Michael of University Village, Fargo, and Douglas at home; two granddaughters; a brother, Manford of Mooreton; three sisters, Mrs. John (Ada) Flippo of Fredericksburg, Va., Mrs. William (Lois) Clark of of California, and Mrs. James (Phyllis) Sheridan of Crookston, Minn.; and his mother, Mrs. Gerald (Gorda) Olson, Sr. of Wahpeton.
He was preceded in death by his father in 1958.
