Andres Olsen

Services for Andrew Olsen, 86, Wahpeton, will be Tuesday at 2 p.m., at Bethel Lutheran Church with Rev. Marvin L. Hartmann officiating.

Mr. Olsen died Friday at St. Francis Hospital, Breckenridge. Visitation is Monday afternoon and evening with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. at Vertin's-Wahpeton Chapel. Visitation continues Tuesday until 11 a.m. at the Chapel and one hour prior to the service at the church.

Flag presentation at the chapel will be by the American Legion honor guard. Vocalists will be Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Jacobson with Mrs. Vernon Hektner as organist.

Mr. Olsen was born Aug. 7, 1889 at Molde, Norway, to Ole and Maria Olsen. He came to this country as a young man and served in the army in World War I. He married Mamie Carsten as Fullerton, N.D.; Feb. 6, 1920. In 1926 they moved to Wahpeton and he was employed by the Great Northern Railroad at the roundhouse in Breckenridge. He retired in 1956.

He was a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church, Wahpeton American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars Posts and a former member of the Fireman and Oilers Union.

Surviving are his wife, two sons, Gary and Lauris, both of Denver, Colo.; a daughter, Mrs. Ernest (Miriam) Kloster, Breckenridge; 11 grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and one brother, Martin of Norway.

Preceding him in death were his parents and one brother.

Casket bearers will be Robert, Edward, Thomas, Michael and Steven Kloster, and Richard Olsen. Interment will be in Fairview Memorial Gardens.
