Mrs. H. Osborn

WAHPETON - Mrs. Howard (Alvina) Osborn, 83, of Wahpeton, lifelong resident of Richland County, died Sunday at the Wahpeton Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services will be held at 2 Thursday in the United Methodist Church in Wahpeton with the Rev. Stanley K. Mueller officiating. Mrs. Donald Gripentrog will be the organist. Interment will be in Fairview Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be Wednesday afternoon and evening with a prayer service at 8 p.m. at Vertin's-Wahpeton Funeral Home.

Casket bearers will be grandsons, Lee Stoltenow, Roger and Verne Platt, John and Curtis Osborn and Robert Ray Jr.

Alvina Mittag was born Aug. 12, 1888, at Hankinson, the daughter of Carl F. and Catherine (Worner) Mittag. She was educated in the Hankinson area and married Howard (Harry) Osborn Oct. 18, 1911, at Great Bend. The couple farmed in the Great Bend and Hankinson area until moving to Wahpeton in 1943. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary last October. She was a charter member of the EUB church in Wahpeton and is now a member of the United Methodist Church in Wahpeton. She had served as Sunday School secretary and held office in the WSWS of which she was a charter member. She later became a member of the WSCS.

She is survived by her husband; a daughter and two sons, Mrs. Norbert (Grace) Platt of Tenney, Nolan of Wahpeton, Howard Jr. of Moorhead; a foster son, Henry Trickle of Minneapolis; seven grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Hattie Mielke and Mrs. George (Ellen) Schlepper, both of Wahpeton.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Mabel; one son, Calvin; four brothers, Herman, Rudolph, Carl and the Rev. George Mittag.
