Obituary
Mrs. Arthur Overby Killed Instantly While Returning to School Located Near McLeod
Mrs. Arthur Overby, 53, was killed instantly and her daughter, Irene 28, suffered a broken right arm and lacerations in a truck accident on County Road 8 Sunday evening at 6:40 o’clock. Her husband, who was driving the pick-up truck suffered bruises and lacerations and Harold Waswick, 25 years old, driver of the other truck escaped injury.
Mildred McDonald Overby was born in Gardner N.D., and spent her childhood and young womanhood there. She married Arthur Overby and they established their home in Ibsen township where Overby farms.
She continued to teach and for many years she and her husband have made their home in a trailer where she taught, locations including Gardner, Perley, Horace and Ibsen.
For the past two years she has taught Freeman school near McLeod and she and her husband and daughter were enroute to the trailer there after spending the weekend at the farm in Ibsen township.
She is survived by her husband, who is recovering from shock at the hospital. Daughters Irene Overby and Audry Jean Ryerson, of Milwaukee and a son McDonald who is a student at Faro ACC. Her mother, Mrs. Hannah McDonald, resides in Gardner, as does one sister Mrs. Florence Calwell.
Funeral arrangements have not been made pending the arrival of the daughter from Milwaukee.
