Obituary
Martin Peterson, Wahpeton, Dies; Rites Held Today
Martin Peterson, 91, a Wahpeton resident for more than 65 years died Monday at a local hospital.
Funeral services were held today (Thursday) fro mBethel Lutheran Church, Re. Loyal E. Golf, officiating. Interment was at Fairview Memorial Gardens.
Martin Peterson was born Dec. 16, 1871, in Scott County, Minnesota, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Nick Peterson. He came to Wahpeton in 1895, being employed first in a machinery establishment.
He was married to Lena Hysjulien of Fergus Falls, July 14, 1903. Mr. Peterson worked later at Wahpeton at carpentry and for 27 years was a mail messenger, retiring in 1943.
Martin and Lena Peterson celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1953. Mr. Peterson was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife; five sons, Clifford, Boulder, Colo.; Reuben C., Bismarck; Vernon L. Fargo; Glenn H. Wahpeton; and Earl, Minneapolis; nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. A brother, Eddie Petrson, of Lakeville, Minn., also survives.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers.
Pallbearers were Dale McMichael, Ronald Saurdiff, George McCullough, George Hankins, Edward Fisher and Harold Lehman. Vertin’s-Wahpeton Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
