Tonya Marie Ploeger

Jul 7, 1970 — Jun 15, 2026

Tonya Marie Ploeger, 55, of Wahpeton, North Dakota, passed away on Monday, June 15, 2026, at Sanford Hospice House in Fargo, North Dakota, surrounded by family and friends. A prayer service will be held on Thursday, June 25th, at 7:00 pm with a visitation two hours prior. The funeral service will be held on Friday, June 26th, at 11:00 am, with a visitation held one hour prior. All services will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wahpeton, ND.

Tonya was born on July 7, 1970, to Michael Linngren and Anita Homan. She was baptized and confirmed at American Lutheran Church in Milbank, South Dakota. Tonya grew up in Milbank and graduated from Grant-Deuel High School in 1989.

Following graduation, Tonya moved to Charlotte, North Carolina, where she worked as a nanny for the Hall family, whom she held close to her heart. She cared for Jordan Hall and remained grateful for the special bond they shared.

On June 4, 1994, Tonya was united in marriage to Jeff Ploeger. Together, they built a life centered on faith, family, and love. Tonya proudly stayed home to raise their two children, Tanner and Tristan, while also helping with the family businesses over the years.

Nothing brought Tonya more joy than spending time with her family. She found her greatest happiness in the simple moments of life and especially cherished time with her three beloved grandchildren, Huckson, Daxton, and Jameson, who brought endless joy to her days. A devoted Chicago Blackhawks and Washington Capitals hockey fan, she loved cheering on her favorite teams and following the game she enjoyed so much. You could often find her curled up watching a favorite movie, making memories with her grandchildren, or sharing a glass of wine, laughter, and heartfelt conversation with her best friend, Ardella Bronson. She also adored her faithful companion, Mac. These moments, spent with the people and things she loved most, brought her the greatest joy and will be remembered fondly by all who knew her.

Tonya is survived by her husband of 32 years, Jeff Ploeger; her sons, Tanner (Angie) Ploeger and Tristan Ploeger; her grandchildren, Huckson, Daxton, and Jameson; her mother, Anita (Alan); her father-in-law, Randy Ploeger; sisters-in-law, Lea (Brian) Hoellein and Paula (Nick) Owens; nieces and nephews, Justin Hoellein, Amy Hoellein, Noah Owens, Elliott Owens, Olivia Owens; and her dear friend, Ardella Bronson.

She was preceded in death by her father, Michael Linngren; her brother, Shayne Linngren; her uncle, Philip Linngren; and her mother-in-law, Arlis Ploeger.

Tonya will be remembered for her loving heart, unwavering devotion to her family, and the kindness she shared so freely with others. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
