Obituary

Rites Held For Clarence Peters

Funeral services were held Monday at 2:30 p.m. from Jos. Vertin & Sons Funeral Home in Breckenridge for Clarence L. Peters, 78, of Breckenridge who died Friday, January 31, at his home in Breckenridge. Officiating was Rev. Stanley Mueller. Interment was in Fairview Memorial Gardens, Wahpeton. Jos. Vertin and Sons Funeral Home were in charge of arrangements.

He is survived by his wife, Louise, and two daughters, Thelma, Mrs. Richard King of Corning, Calif., and Aleyne, Mrs. Walker E. Cox, Wheeling, Illinois; four granddaughters, four great grandsons and two great granddaughters; and one sister Lottie Lillisve, Los Angeles, Calif.

Preceding him in death were his foster parents, Frank and Hulda Peters and one brother, James Frank Peters.

Peters was born February 20, 1890 at East Grand Forks, MInn. At the age of four he was adopted by Frank and Hulda Peters at Sheldon, N.D., where he grew up and attended school.

On December 30, 1913 he was united in marriage to Louise Heinrichs at Brillion, Wis. The first ear after their marriage they farmed at Mr. Peter’s home farm near Sheldon, then moved to Enderlin where Mr.

Peters worked for the Soo Line Railroad. They lived at Enderlin for three years, moving to Breckenridge in 1918 where he worked for the Great Northern Railroad rip track crew for a year. They then moved to Dwight where they farmed for two years before moving back to Breckenridge where Mr. Peters returned to work for the Great Northern as a machinist helper, continuing until retirement in 1955. Breckenridge had been his home since 1922.

He was a member of the Great Northern Veterans Association and a member of the United Methodist Church in Wahpeton.
